Heart Stamped Shoes :: A Frugal Fashion DIY

I am the type of girl who is always looking for the best deal.  I love sales and, when applicable, DIY fashion.  I adore Toms footwear and love their more unique prints so when I saw the "Hearts" Classics I wanted a pair badly.  Unfortunately, this was not possible as they were sold out.    So when I saw a pair of drug store grey knock-offs, for a whole $6, I thought why not DIY my own heart stamped shoes!

First, let me recommend this stamp making tutorial by A Beautiful Mess, then I will show you the more tedious method I used.

Tutorial Here -----> Click Me!

Now if you are like me and do not have convenient access to a craft store, here is what I did.

What You'll Need:
Shoes (I found mine at CVS)
Fabric Paint
Bamboo Skewer or Tooth Pick

If you do not have a flat ended skewer or toothpick, you will need to cut one end to create it
Sand down your cut area so that it is smooth and flat
Dip flat end into paint and press against fabric (I recommend practicing on some old fabric or paper first)
Repeat, placing another circle right beside the first
Using the pointed end of your skewer or toothpick, bring the two circles together by creating a triangle to form a heart
Repeat until you are pleased with the desired placement and overall look

Enjoy and do not forget to still check out Tom's.  They donate a pair of shoes, for every one sold, to a child in need!   How cool is that?
