Jeepers Creepers...

Last week after a day at the shop I decide to grab Cami and head to the local park.  I had a whole "set to music" post already humming in my head and even packed a pair of flats for some crazy shots.

I arrived mid-day and although I knew it wouldn't make for the best lighting I knew there would be plenty of people around.  I try to avoid going anywhere deserted on my own... better safe than sorry.  As I expected the place was buzzing and everyone seemed completely normal and fairly uninterested in what I was doing...

until... "hey pretty girl, whatcha doing, whatcha doing, pretty girl?"  Completely out of left field comes Mr. Creeper Comments... "You taken pictures of yourself looking all good and stuff?" "Yeah... that's right pretty girl".  ::EEP::  I've heard, that when dealing with Creepers, you shouldn't show fear to avoid setting off their predatory instincts.  I remained cool, answering only to the pieces that were actually questions.  I snapped a couple more photos just to act unphased until something else had is attention...

first I didn't like that my back is to him... click, click, click... move somewhere else.

Better... closer to playing children... wait for him to look away... click, click, click... go!

I think I must have packed Cami in record newbie time!  I was out of there so fast I felt like the Road Runner!  Click, click, zooooommmm....  I was more than grateful for that last minute desicion to pack my flats!

Once back in the safety of my truck I changed my shoes and debated what to do.  I was a little frazzled and freaked but didn't want to head home quite yet.  I decided to swing by my favorite piece of the Thousand Acre Wood's river and soak up some sun.  The feeling of sand between my toes has always been soothing.

So I kicked off my boots and shared the sand with a new friend.  He was very sweet and, unlike my earlier friend, kept his distance...

Once alone again I began my search for stones which is another pass time of mine.  We love to search for arrowheads and gold whenever we go.  But no luck, just some unwanted trash and a long forgotten beach ball that was put to rest in a nearby trashcan.  Just before the sun went down I was able to capture a couple images to share with you...

All in all, a perfect way to end a , not so perfect, day!  What is you worse Creeper Encounter?

  4. A friend of mine was walking home from the bus stop one afternoon when some random dude in a truck started pacing her in his vehicle and pulling the old, "Your mom sent me to pick you up," schtick. Said friend, being a smart girl, refused to get in the truck, but the guy wasn't taking "no" for an answer and pulled a bit ahead of her and started to open the truck's door.

    *HOOOOOONK! HOOOOOOONK!*

Up zooms none other than my friend's mom! Her mom had decided (on a whim) to run into town to grab some groceries and meet her daughter on the walk home. She saw the whole incident and did the first thing that came to her mind by laying on the horn. Mother's intuition, you think?

Creeper-guy promptly slammed his door and roared off, disappearing in a cloud of dust.

It's scary when the stalkers and pedophiles start crawling out of the gutters, eh? "Lookin' good, girl! Takin' pictures of yourself 'cause you're lookin' so gooooood?"

  7. What a pretty photo location! And I love your shoes!
My worst creeper encounter was while snapping pictures of a model for my etsy shop. We were at a state park, and had several outfits to shoot. I guess this guy thought he was going to get a free show, because he stopped like twenty feet away from us, said nothing, and just stared. When I'm scared I react by getting angry, so I started yelling at him when he wouldn't leave. The creepy thing was that he didn't respond at all. He just stood there watching. After a long stare down of fifteen minutes, he finally moved on and disappeared over a little hill on the trail. After waiting a bit, we started shooting again, until I looked over my shoulder and saw his creepy little head peeking over the hill!!! That was when it was time to go.

Park creepers... gross. Glad to hear you're safe!

  10. Isabel - Me too! We've decided it will be a three part series for self-photos on every budget! There will be one for smart phones with a DIY for a wall holder, one for point & shoots with a tripod DIY, and one for DSLRs! Super excited and love when you all have requests! They truly inspire me! xo

  15. I love the outfit photos aaand that creepy story!! It made me laugh, but reading a couple of the creeper stories in your comments are nothing short of dangerous and not funny at all. I'm the same way as one of the girl's who commented being that when I get scared, I get angry so my first instinct is to come off as a mega bitch who won't think twice about fighting back should something go down. I have a few creeper stories but the one coming to mind is when I was in high school I got a ride home with a friend's friend, so I thought he was trustable. He drove in the right direction at first but then he just kept driving and locked the doors! He even tried rubbing my legs. I went crazy yelling at him and he finally pulled over and told me to get out. Fucking weirdos dude. I had a pen from my bookbag ready to stab him in the eye.

  16. Roni - Leave it to me to make anything funny. My first instict is to make a joke! That is so scary! I am not surprised he thought twice though... I definitely would when messy with your fiesty self! =D

  19. Those are cute outfits! I like it best with the ankle booties. I don't get many creepers as I used to. I usually just ignored them. I think the worst is when they're with friends and they're talking about you like you can't hear them! lol
