Trash the Dress - Attempt One (The Story) ®

So like I promised I will be revisiting our first attempt at a Trash the Dress shoot.  If you are not familiar with this concept it is where the bride and groom get back in their wedding attire and have a no holds bars photo session.  During the actual nuptials most brides are hesitate to try anything too gutsy in fears of dirtying their precious threads.

We had been planning one of these sessions long before the I Do's.  I have never had the desire to preserve my dress in the blind hope that I will produce a female heir fit for my gown.  I am too much of an individual and cannot imagine my daughter being different!  She'll want her own dress.

Back to the subject at hand.  After two years of planning and dreaming we finally got all our ducks in a row and set a date.  The weather was perfect and the location was beautiful.  We were even fortunate enough to have our photographers photo bud come with us!  Double the photos double the fun right?  Okay that's not quite how it goes but that's sure what I was thinking!

Back to the story... it was a magical day... my hair and make up set just right... (I know you all will appreciate the beauty in that!)... my hubby was lookin all dapper in his slacks and button down... all in all perfection!

We started snapping away the moment I was in the dress... I'll give you a moment to observe...

We decided to take it to the next level and jump into the water and though it was freezing we were troopers!

This is where things got interesting... Patrick thought it would be really cool to get some photos of me in the waterfall.  Burr by the way... very burr... as he was snapping away the other photog wanted in on the action.  No problem right?

Wrong!  Very big problem!  In the haste of catching the moment she was unable to catch her balance on the slippery stones beneath the current.  Camera meet rapids... needless to say the camera did not survive this deadly battle and has since gone to the big camera store in the sky.  This was the disastrous end of that days session... But the real reason I had considered this day to be a fail isn't so obvious.  If you look back through the photos you will notice a trend... where the heck is Chris?  Yep... no groom... Chris was in less than a handful of these photos making the Trash the Dress session not what we had hoped for.  Patrick did manage to capture some amazing portraits of me and though I adore them I wanted more of us having fun together.

The good news?  We did reschedule and went with a different more unique concept and let's just say we had a blast!  Be back next month with the official Trash the Dress photos!

Love & Lollies...

  13. I love the water photos! I've never seen anyone do this in a trash the dress photo sesh. Many points for originality and for being a straight up G in cold water. I would probably not have been able to do that. Actually not a chance in hell! :)
